Creation Sailing Camp

1 WEEK MONDAYS-SATURDAYS

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men–Ecc. 3:11

Through learning the fundamentals of sailing, children and youth are introduced to creation, and the concept that they are created in God’s image. The focus is on learning about the Gulf Coast environment, weather patterns, wildlife and plant life in the estuary system, while incorporating Biblical teachings. The program also integrates the use of natural energy, avoiding polluting and accepting responsibility as good stewards of our planet. Participants will begin viewing creation with an ecologicl mind, and their Godly place in it.

Boat Building

MEET ONCE A WEEK AS GROUP
ONE ADULT AND ONE CHILD, AGES 7-17

By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. 1 Co. 3:10

He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge. Is 33:6

An adult and younger person will pair up once a week with other participants. Groups will receive instruction in boat building and discuss the goal for the following week. Each pair can then come back to the boat shed to work on their project when personal time allows. Included will be teachings on using the proper materials for both life and boat building. Areas of interest include God’s blueprints for our lives, working together toward common goals, foundations of lasting beauty, and building relationships designed to successfully navigate troubled waters. The final goal for each boat building pair will be a completed, handmade, functional skiff.

Mission Sailing

TEENS AND ADULTS PERIODICALLY AS NEEDED

God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you. Acts 27:24

The purpose of this program is to use a larger vessel to sail into coastal areas to work with underprivileged communities or those devastated by natural disasters. This would involve overnight sailing. Mission work includes construction during the day with Biblical teaching, praise and worship during the early mornings and late evenings.

Boat Restoration

MEET ONCE A WEEK FOR PLANNING AND STRATEGY, TEENS AND ADULTS

Restore us, O God; make your face shine upon us, that we may be saved. Ps 83:6

Those involved in this project will find boats in disrepair and restore them to beauty and functionality. That’s what the whole New Testament is about! As teens and adults work to restore salvaged boats, they will also work on salvaging lives–their own, and those of others. The message conveyed through cleaning, scraping, sawing, painting, and eventually launching, is that no matter what you’ve been through or what you’ve done, you can be renewed in Christ. The completed boats will become part of the Compass Ministries fleet, just as restored lives become part of the Body of Christ.
